Insufficient or excessive tire pressure will cause abnormal wear, even premature scrapping or tire blowouts that lead to traffic accidents. In addition, low tire pressure increases rolling resistance, which directly raises fuel consumption and overall vehicle operating costs.

Current vehicle models only support automatic tire pressure detection but cannot adjust pressure to a reasonable range automatically. When low pressure is detected, manual inflation is the only option, which not only wastes labor costs but also disrupts travel and transportation schedules. What’s more, most semi-trailers in use are not even equipped with basic tire pressure monitoring devices.

Thus, developing a professional Tire Inflation System that can inflate underinflated or leaking tires in real time—whether the vehicle is driving or stationary—has become an urgent need for the commercial transportation industry.

Working Principle of TKL Tire Inflation System

The TKL Tire Inflation System is an integrated system designed to control and maintain constant tire pressure for commercial vehicles. Its precise working steps are as follows:

1. Pressurized air from the tanker air supply travels along the air supply line to a filter.

2. Air is filtered through a self-draining filter to remove any impurities.

3.Pressurized air flows into the control box where the pressure is regulated to the pre-set tire psi.

4.Regulated air flows from the control box through the hollow axle tube to the rotary union (thru tee).

5.Air is transmitted as needed via the rotary union, through the tire hoses and into the tires.

Main Components & Core Functions

TKL Tire Inflation System consists of Air pressure supply source,  Control box (with pressure regulator & flow valve), Single-circuit air pressure protection valve,Shaft pressure plug, Filter rod, Axle head cover, Rotary three-way joint, Air hoses, Warning light, Warning light wires and other professional components.

Key Components & Their Functions

Air Pressure Supply Source: Hermetically connected to tires, ensuring a continuous and sealed flow of compressed air to the tire system.

Pressure Regulator: Installed between the air pressure supply source and tires with a hermetic fluid connection. Pre-set pressure values adjust the air pressure passing through the regulator to match the tire’s required pressure.

Flow Valve: Sealed fluid connection with tires. When the air flow exceeds the preset rate, the valve generates an electrical signal that triggers the warning light (visual indicator) to turn on for leakage/overpressure alarm.

Single-circuit Air Pressure Protection Valve: Mounted between the air pressure supply source and control box (hermetic fluid connection). Maintains the working pressure at the air outlet if the air pressure supply source fails unexpectedly, ensuring system safety.

Shaft Pressure Plug: Installed at the end of the vehicle axle (suitable for solid/hollow axles). Seals the modified open end of the axle, allowing the hollow axle to store pressurized air and support the filter rod.

Axle Head Cover: Mounted on the wheel hub, guiding pressurized air from the axle to the filter rod stably.

Rotary Three-way Joint: Fixed on the axle head cover, transferring pressurized air from the filter rod to the air hose and then to the tire.

Air Hose: Establishes a hermetic fluid connection between the rotary three-way joint and tires, ensuring smooth air delivery with no leakage
