Brake drum is a brake that uses friction caused by a set of shoes or pads that press outward against a rotating bowl-shaped part called a brake drum.

Brake Drum: How Does It Work?

When braking, the piston puts pressure on two pairs of half-moon brake shoes so that they are pressed against the wall of the drum chamber, creating friction to stop the rotation of the wheels.

Brake drums are typically made of cast iron or aluminum alloy for durability and heat dissipation. The internal structure includes brake shoes, return springs, and hydraulic cylinders. The brake shoes are lined with friction material to ensure effective braking performance and longevity.

Advanced Design of TKL Brake Drum

  • The material of the brake drum is generally HT200-300.

  • High-quality material plays the role of heat dissipation, increasing friction performance and reducing brake noise.
